Support Ministries

Many people enjoy working "behind the scenes", doing small things that make the big things possible.  The ministry opportunities described below are an excellent way for someone to get involved in the life of the parish.  If you are interested in any of the support ministries, contact the parish office: 253-875-6630

OFFICE VOLUNTEER

Answering the doorbell, directing calls, filing papers, stuffing envelopes; all these are normal tasks of the Office Volunteer. If you have extra time during the day, possess reasonable “people skills”, and love your parish, this might be a good fit for you.

FACILITIES COMMISSION

Meeting once a month, this group provides consultation and advice to parish staff on the scheduling, use, maintenance and preservation of our parish facilities.

ARCHBISHOP MURPHY CIRCLE

Volunteers accept responsibility for maintaining (weeding, trimming, planting, etc.) the plants within designated areas of the gardens in the front of the church. People who enjoy gardening are well suited for this ministry.

 ON-SITE CHILDCARE

Work with professionally trained staff to provide care for young children during Masses and other parish events. Must be 15 years of age. A Safe Environment Training Class and background check required for volunteers over 18.

SOUND SYSTEM AND LIGHTING

These volunteers operate the sound system and lighting during regular liturgies and other functions in the church. Training is required. Plan to  spend an average of two hours per month in this ministry

PARKING LOT SHUTTLE SERVICE

Use a golf cart to assist parishioners from their cars to the church for Mass, and back again afterward. Valid drivers license and special training required. (Golf cart courtesy of Lipoma Firs.)

 LAWN MAINTENANCE

Volunteers mow and edge the lawns on a weekly basis. Involves the use of a riding mower, push mower, weed whacker, and blower.
